Tight mates

John Howard tells his fellow Australians that it’s really, really, really important to remain close to George W. Bush because he’s really, really, really important:

The relationship is very close – I do have a very close relationship with President Bush. I like him. But the most important thing is the relationship – and the relationship goes beyond the personal relationship.

Bush has launched two disastrous wars, tapped the conversations of average Americans and tortured “terrorists” in secret prisons. This is clearly an administration Australia should be shunning. Besides, a vast majority of Americans think Bush is a liar and fraud.

UPDATE: Buried at the end of this Sydney Morning Herald article, Howard rules out Australian military involvement against Iran. On issues of war and peace, he’s as trustworthy as Chemical Ali.
