The type of warfare described is meaningless. Do you win when you've wiped out the opponents robots? No. The only thing that matters is dead 'real live' bodies. America might have a few small victories initially, but their opponents will find ways of killing human Americans eventually. Just look at Iraq and Afghanistan. The CoW have vastly superior weapons and training, but they are still sending home 2 bodies a day. And the less risky you make war, the greater the psychological impact when you do loose someone.

Nor is there anything such thing as an invincible/invulnerable weapon. No matter how brilliant their design, robot warriors will always have flaws. Weak spots.
