The lessons

Israel’s latest outrage:

At least 19 Palestinians, including five civilians, were killed Friday in Israel Defense Forces operations in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. Nine of the fatalities occurred in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanun, where the IDF has been operating since Wednesday morning.

In the most recent incidents on Friday night, three Israel Air Force strikes around the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya and one near the southern town of Rafiah killed seven Palestinian militants and wounded several more, Palestinian security officials said.

A few hours earlier, another airstrike hit a makeshift mosque on the outskirts of Beit Hanun on Friday evening, killing at least one Palestinian and injuring three others.

Such activity is undoubtedly the taste of things to come. After years of occupation, the Israelis don’t understand why the Palestinians haven’t simply given up and accepted Jewish rule. They never will, of course. The resistance grows stronger every day.

Until Israel understands that you can’t bomb another people into submission – and this is where international sanctions are only a matter of time – the chaos will continue.
