The New Yorker is being disingenuous. Cohen doesn’t have “onscreen victims.” There is only one butt of his jokes–those who speak bad English, come from somewhere to the East of here, and have a religion which is neither Judaism nor Christianity. Here in America we call those folks “terrists”. If he thought he could get away with it, he’d be wearing a headscarf.

I’m no expert on his career, but I’d be very surprised if anyone can actually point to an example of him “making fun of Jews.”

I too thought of the (mainly Jewish) “Islamofascism experts” that clutter our media. But Cohen isn’t parodying their message, he’s just pitching the same thing to an even less thoughtful demographic.
