The movement, the day after

Following yesterday’s release of Independent Australian Jewish Voices, the new movement – over 260 signatures and rising at an incredible rate – has generated an amazing amount of public and media interest.

A senior journalist at a major Sydney paper summed up the feeling of many when he told me today that some of his fellow reporters were relieved the Jewish community may finally be ready to challenge the bullying and militant Zionist reading of the Israel/Palestine conflict. Jews with many backgrounds and attitudes are coming together. Literally hundreds have told us that their Judaism, sometimes never displayed in public, is convincing them to speak up, engage with the issues and not allow the usual Zionist suspects to speak for all Jews. Four decades of brutal Israeli occupation has finally forced their hand.

Coverage in the Sydney Morning Herald, Melbourne Age, Crikey, ABC Radio National, AM, other Australian media outlets and international interest is only the beginning. Stay tuned for other news and initiatives.

  • That’s wonderful Antony,

It is such a wonderful thing to see that Jewish people are realising that much of what the Israel of today represents, contradicts the true values of what Judaism.

    Let’s hope the momentum continues.

  • Tony you can take much credit for arousing thousands of sane Jews to come forward with their views.

    Regards and respect/Tom Brown

  • Wonderful, just marvelous, but be very careful my man.

You may end up before the courts as an “anti semite”! There is absolutely no free speech or thought when it comes to the zionists, and if you publicly disagree with them, well, just be careful.
