Surge Update

This graph sheds some light on the realities in Iraq, as opposed to what we are hearing. While the continued occupation is justified on the grounds that it is somehow preventing a bloodbath worse than the one that exists, we are reminded that the overwhelming majority of violence is directed at the occupation forces and the so called “Iraq Security forces” that work alongside them.

It hardly comes as a surprise that the chaos in Iraq is beyond anyone’s ability to control it.

Iraq’s government has lost control of vast areas to powerful local factions and the country is on the verge of collapse and fragmentation, a leading British think-tank said on Thursday.

And still, in spite of the tough rhetoric, the hapless Democrats are doing all they can to prolong the pain. When they say that war is the health of the state, they are of course referring to the ruling elite, certainly not the public.
