Derek,
Thanks for your kind message and thoughts about my book. I think you'll really enjoy it.
I have heard of the book you mention. My experience in China, and what my book reveals, is that many Chinese web-users support some govt filtering/censorship. And we should never forget that the definitions of democracy are different in every country.

Antony,

enjoyed listening to your ABC Media Report interview a few minutes ago and your observations about bloggers in China, Iran and Cuba.

I haven't read your book yet but just wondering if you read "Who Controls the Internet?" by Jack Goldsmith and Tim Wu as part of your research? They also skewer some of the conventional wisdoms about China's management of the Internet but are not quite as optimistic as you seem to be about internet users getting round censorship requirements.

cheers,
Derek Barry
