The retching quality of this article is the pretend detachment, claiming an inevitability of process (driven by the evil empire to which the Holy City that is Israel is merely a passive respondent) that he, the 'impartial' astute observer, is merely documenting. Whereas of course the article is an active piece of war-making in which the protagonist is urging on the devastation. The other retching element is that the Guardian should see fit to give this wretched propaganda a 'respectable' outlet.
