Pithy comments by Omar Barghouti, a leader of the BDS campaign:
Forty two (yes 42!) Knesset members (a third of the total), from across the Zionist political spectrum (including Labor), are “recommending [to] the citizens of Israel to reconsider using the services of companies that operate in Great Britain …”
Perhaps it is time for a corresponding third of the British parliament, at the very least, to call for sanctions against Israel. For starters, a suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement is long overdue, particularly given Israel’s persistent violation of its human rights clauses, not to mention its commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity against the 1.5 million Palestinians trapped in the Gaza concentration camp.
Britain has never been a friend of Israel and despite their frantic backpeddling over recent attempts to issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, I think it is well overdue for Israeli’s to initiate their own BDS campaign against Britain (I’d also add France to the same list). Israel is Britain’s third largest export market in the Middle East and a key supplier of technology to their growing military technology industry – hit them where it hurts.
Shaun:
“Britain has never been a friend of Israel”
Typical Zionist or Zionist apologist reductionism. Or in plain English: paranoia…
If only it were true though. Israel really has one of the most loyal allies in form of the British Government. Apart paying a little lip service to the ‘Peace Process’ (that’s DEFINITELY anti-Zionist!), HMGs have supported Israel’s wars on Lebanon and Gaza really without as much as a whimper. It supports the siege in Gaza. The BBC can’t even be bothered reporting on the troubles of the Free Gaza March and the Viva Palestina! convoy, at least not on telly.
The initiative to issue an arrest warrant for Livni was that of a Magistrate’s Court, Shaun may remember a simple principle of separation between the executive and legal branches of a state. Broooon then fell almost over himself for promising ‘reform’ (unlikely to happen in my honest opinion). All to accommodate the country of which ‘Britain was never a friend’. Shaun, do engage brain before keyboard… Please?
Zionists take that ‘with us or against us’ adage to a whole new dimension…
I nonetheless applaud and support Israel’s future decision to call for BDS against Britain, it would once again draw attention to the absurd behaviour of the state of Israel.
So Shaun, get away from this site and get your quill into your inkpot and start writing those much needed letters… presto!
Another example of Israel addressing the symptoms but completely ignoring the causes.
