Colombo’s regime must be isolated not embraced by clueless cricket types

Sri Lanka remains a police state with no accountability for its war crimes against the Tamil people and now we learn that a prominent Westerner will be taking blood money and promoting the nation globally. Time to boycott him:

Former English cricketer turned television commentator Tony Greig has been appointed as tourism ambassador for Sri Lanka by Sri Lanka Tourism.

Greig was appointed as tourism ambassador for a six-month period in a ceremony last Monday at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.

“The tourism industry welcomes the appointment and noted that it will help attract many viewers during the ICC World Cup and the IPL thereafter,” Nalaka Godahewa the chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism said.

“Tony’s role in promoting Sri Lanka will have a positive impact among prospective holiday makers to Sri Lanka.

“This year’s theme is tourism and all 12 months have been allocated for various activities to develop tourism. This makes the month of February the month for sports and adventure sports. Appointing Tony Greig is parallel to this program,” he added.

Greig served as the captain of England from 1975 – 1977 and has played 58 Test matches and 22 ODIs. He is currently a popular television commentator, who is a part of the ICC’s World Cup commentary team.
