- Craig Murray - the UK’s former ambassador to Uzbekistan and now critic of the “war on terror - is facing hurdles in publishing his forthcoming book. The letter from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office is a shameless attempt at censorship and intimidation.

- Dick Cheney accidentally misses his intended target - himself.

- Uri Avnery explains the power of Israel’s Kadima party.

- While an Australian Federal MP doesn’t seem to know the difference between Papua New Guinea and West Papua and the Australia’s Greg Sheridan believes the Indonesian military doesn’t engage in war crimes in West Papua, it is worth reading the 2003 report by Yale University that reveals the extent of the devastation by the Indonesian military in the Indonesian province:

“Although no single act or set of acts can be said to have constituted genocide, per se, and although the required intent cannot be as readily inferred as it was in the cases of the Holocaust or the Rwandan genocide, there can be little doubt that the Indonesian government has engaged in a systematic pattern of acts that has resulted in harm to-and indeed the destruction of-a substantial part of the indigenous population of West Papua.”

There is a very good interview of Cragi Murray on democracynow.org. Fascsinating chap and extraordinarily cnadid, given the information he has. No wonder his book is having trouble being published. It really is a serious indictment on Downing Street and Washington.

Of particualr interest is his information that the close relationship between Bush and Karimov was due largely to Enron’s gas interests in the region. While the Western media protrayed the withdrawl of US troops from Uzbekistan as relatd to the massacre that took place last year, it was actually a result of Karimov strikign up a better financial deal with Putin.

Looks like Dick Cheney was testing the latest presision guided weapon.

I wonder if Cheney will try to claim that it was actually Scooter Libby who shot the guy.

Do you think it’s possible this incident will cause a heart attack? Maybe a life threatening, leading to a doctor induced coma. Mmmmmm.

Anty, suicide jokes now? Very questionable taste, mate.

Orang, nice to see the compassionate left in action.

My first thought when I heard the report on the radio was that, as they were quail hunting, Cheney had accidentally shot Dan Quayle.

    Shab,

No such thing as bad taste when you are contemplating one of the most vile human beings in the world.

If I was not a limp wristed leftie I’d want to reach down Cheney’s lying throat and squeeze that worthless heart until it popped. Bwwwwwaaaahaaaa!!!!

No. Really, I didn’t mean that. Everyone deserves their day in court, even he. THEN we can inject him with lethal poisons. heheheh

So then, was old Harry Whittington collateral damage? Drat those birds hiding amongst humans.
Just as well “guns don’t kill people”.
