Well, here we all are switching on our TV sets to find out how really nice Israel has been overnight in Qana (again). Allegations of many children among the dead and Sky News interviewing a “nice” Israeli Army spokesman who maintains that it is really Hezbollah who are responsible for this war crime (though he is careful not to use the words war crime), and then he has the gall to berate the reporter and the rest of the media for not concentrating on Hazebollah’s crimes and shouting that Israel has the right of defence and that these people were warned to get out of the village (even though they would have been bombed on the roads). No shame, no apology. But then why would he apologise? Like the author of the NY Post piece, he thinks they are all vermin and need to be taught a harsh lesson. Children among the dead? Shrug your shoulders buddy, stretch out you palms and move on.
I suppose it will not be long before we hear about the “tragedy” and then maybe it was Hezbollah who fired into the building and on it goes. Meanwhile, Mr Blair will meet Mr Murdoch, they will chat about Mr Blair’s future and maybe have a glass of Chardonnay.

I was at the so-called riot, and I happen to live in the Sutherland Shire. It was a perfect example of how media opinion influences the public (and therefore the politicians) so much.
It 1st of all was hardly comparable to a riot.
2ndly out of 5000 people there only about 150 or so would have been violent (most of it was families from around the shire showing their support).
3rd, The events happened in response to the ‘lack of response’ by police on the increasing Lebanese Youth violence which had been getting out of control for 5 years prior to the ‘riot’.
Cronulla police station was stripped 5 years ago of all (but the receptionist cops) of it’s police who were transferred to Miranda station. As a result all the violence happening on the beach when reported, never was able to get looked into because by the time anyone came from Miranda station the Lebanese Youth (in these cases) were already long gone.
It was unfortunate the media labelled it a race-riot because there was a real underlying message there, (if you look past the drunk mob-mentality). ‘If you are going to come to the beach (suburb where we grew up) come peacefully, dont bring your violence here.’ The Shire is one of the most peaceful suburbs of Sydney.
Looke like Israel may be taking a leaf out of Podhoretz’s book.

For your information, pals were given a say in what happened to the British mandate of Palestine. This is why it was carved up 78% into a palestinian state: tranjordan. The second round of carving was rejected (as per usual) by pals and hence no second pal state.

I think my implication is that every time you or anyone else sinks to the level of personal abuse even in something so marginal as the comments section of a blog, you fuel the cycle of hatred further.
