I believe that I must have watched the same BBC documentary - it may have been carried out in their 'Reporters' series - and was downcast to see the extreme efforts that, once again, America is going to in an attempt to destabilise yet another nation, in this case with the help of Ethiopian forces, no doubt as aresult of the US's sophisticated system of bribery and threat.

The present US administration is like a gangrenous wound on the face of the planet, but the toxins have bled far deeper than many people realise, and I'm sure will have infected the next administration as well. A day or so ago, in the televised questioning of the presidential candidates, it appears that the sole dissenting voice to the notion that 'Iran poses the biggest threat to the world since the Cold War' was Kucinich, bless him. And I mean that. He makes so much sense. There was Barack Obama voicing his certainty that Iran was a huge threat, Hilary Clinton attempting to excuse herself for having voted for the war in Iraq (and what damage had her spouse, Bill Clinton, already done to Iraq through its lethal sanctions for years!).

Kucinich, meanwhile, has been pushing for a REAL, proper, and comprehensive investigation into what really happenrd on 9/11. And I, for one (amongst millions of others around the globe) am fully for the truth coming out on this issue. The evidence is stacked against the official govt line, and yet it continues on its bloody way, on a mission of "Christofascism" as Vigilante has cleverly termed it.

We can never begin to have the healing that humanity is so desperately in need of until we have the truth on 9/11. America and Israel - and possibly Britain - have a great deal to answer for on that subject. Far from being 'free' societies with democratic and open governments, our worlds have become ever more enchained by secrecy, and the undermining of human rights in an effort to leave the power and the decision-making in the hands of those who have most to gain through lying and propagandising on a massive scale to their populace and the world. Dissent is seen as disloyalty - we are made to feel afraid to criticise, and real threats are made and carried out to those who dare to expose unpalatable truths.

We are all in danger if we fail to act on what we know and see to be evil: where black flag operations and subterfuge become the currency of the 'Free' World's freedom, where the death of a human being multiplied many 100's of 1000's means so very little to those who have ulterior and immoral motives.

Monica (in the UK): thanking Antony Loewenstein for his continued brave dissenting journalism.

I woke this morning to a BBC account of the devastation in Somalia. The reporter concluded that the short six-months (before December '06) Somalis enjoyed under the decentralized, eclectic, and UNAGGRESSIVE Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) will be looked back upon as a "kind of Golden Age." That was before the unnecessary and unprovoked invasion by Ethiopia, with backing from the usual suspects.

If we are to be saddled with the misnomer of "Islamofascism" which I would contest, then we should also contemplate an equally dubious notion of Christofascism. But whatever nomenclature we designate to describe these two versions of intolerance, both need to be combatted and defeated.
