What the other Jews think

During my recent visit to New York for the US launch of My Israel Question, I spent time with Tony Karon, senior editor at Time.com, former South African anti-apartheid campaigner and humane Jew. Like me, he believes that Zionism will inevitably destroy the Jewish state and far too few Jews seem to recognise this reality. They will, of course, when it’s too late.

He asked me to write an article about an alternative Judaism, something I’ve been talking about for years. The title is, “Equality, not Zionism, will save Israel.”

    What a pity Jews like Loewenstein, Finkelstein and this fellow, Karon, are seen as members of “alternative Judaism”. Zionism and its fanatical supporters are traitors to the ancient faith of Judaism which once stood for compassion and tolerance. Israel has no chance of continuing to exist so long as it embraces zionism, a racist, supremacist, exclusivist and violent ideology.

    Jim: I’m just guessing here, but you aren’t Jewish are you? It’s quite clear you don’t have a clue what you are talking about.

    Of course that makes you eminently qualified to post here…

    Grab a copy of the Old Testament, the basis for Judaism and count the references to Israel and Jerusalem.

    As a side issue, you may care to try the same experiment with the Qu’ran.

    I don’t think you will…

    Ben, judaism != zionism

    Look it up. One’s religious and one is a dangerous mixture of politics and religion. It’s not a requirement that one be Jewish in order to crit zionism, and to suggest otherwise is just silly.

    BenZ,

    Thanks again for demonstrating how Zionists who claim to know what they are talking about, usually don’t.
