Heads in the sand

Who says the US authorities in Iraq are clueless? Evidence for the prosecution:

“Paul Bremer, who led the U.S. civilian occupation authority in Iraq after the 2003 invasion, has admitted the United States did not anticipate the insurgency in the country, NBC Television said on Friday.”

For a leading US official to admit that the Bush administration failed to appreciate the likely backlash to an illegal and brutal occupation proves the ideological blindness of the mission. Resistance to occupation has been a feature of virtually every invasion in the history of warfare.
