Iran is secretly forging ties with al-Qaida elements and Sunni Arab militias in Iraq in preparation for a summer showdown with coalition forces intended to tip a wavering US Congress into voting for full military withdrawal, US officials say.
The Iraqi government and related Shiite militias are already in the hands of the Iranian government as it is, yet US officials (who shall remain nameless) are telling us that Iran is going to team up with their enemies, Al Qaeda (whom they helped the US go after in Afghanistan) and Sunni Arabs militias to thwart their own advantage in Iraq.
Yeah, that makes perfect sense.
