Are we allowed to compare Iraq to Vietnam?

Since the insurgency in Iraq started giving the occupation a headache, critics of the war have been criticized for daring to compare the Iraq quagmire with Vietnam.

The last time Bush acknowledged the similarities between the two conflicts, war supporters ignored it and hoped it would be forgotten, So now that Bush has drawn this comparison again, will we see the war party adopt this talking point – and still pretend that their position has remained consistent all along?
