The “war on terror” or the “long war” isn’t going too well. In a shock development over the last years, many nations have reacted violently to the idea of being “democratised” by US-led, disaster capitalism.
Many cultural warriors, however, still pump out the rhetoric to a rapidly sceptical public. At least they can comfort themselves with the thought that in years to come such ideas will be captured in dictionaries to be mocked and laughed at.
One of the most intriguing developments has been the insistence of Middle East “experts” to proclaim that “we” are currently in the midst of a world war with “Islamofascists”, but they seem a little confused about definitions. Some examples:
– Former IDF chief-of-staff, Lieutenant-General (reserve) Moshe Ya’alon says the Western world is fighting “World War III” against Islamic terrorists.
– CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck recently told listeners that, “the world is on the brink of World War III.”
– Former head of Mossad, Ephraim Halevy, claims that World War III started on September 11, 2001.
– Muslim “experts” Daniel Pipes argues that, “in all, were terrorism by Muslims halted, this would be a major advance toward winning what some call World War IV.”
What happened to victory in World War III? I would really hope that Mr. Pipes was certain of victory in that war before carelessly moving on to another global struggle. Perhaps he could send his children to this war and put his money where his mouth is.
