  • More photos from last weeks ceremony at the #Victorian Parliament House in #Melbourne #Australia when I won the #Jerusalem Peace Prize.

  • Last week I was awarded the #Jerusalem Peace Prize in #Melbourne #Australia for my 15 years of work on #Israel and #Palestine. It was a surreal and rather overwhelming evening at Victoria’s Parliament House in front of 150 people. The audience was a diverse combination of #Palestine supporters, #Palestinians, #Arabs and dear friends and family (including @historychick69 @ehospics and others not on insta). I discussed my work on the issue, the importance of #Jewish dissent over #Palestine, rising global anti-Semitism and my other work, from #disastercapitalism to drug policy to #Wikileaks, that always highlights injustice.
It was a strange feeling receiving so much praise in one intense burst but I deeply appreciate the support, encouragement and belief in critical and independent journalism.
Thanks to @apan4palestine and others for putting on such a memorable evening.

  • This is surreal. Friday was #Palestine National Day celebrated around the world. These photos, by my friend Lisa Arnold in #Melbourne #Australia, is in the centre of the city, at Federation Square, on massive screens seen by every passerby.
Apart from the crazy sight of details on me winning this year’s #Jerusalem Peace Prize for my 15 years of work on #Israel/#Palestine, awarded next week in #Melbourne and I’ll be there in person, is the growing normalization of #Palestine and its symbols in the heart of #Australia.
  • During a recent reporting trip in #Nigeria, with @naashonzalk making an @aljazeeraenglish film on the #opioid crisis in #Africa’s most populous country, we found a weekly vigil/protest to highlight the still missing #ChibokGirls, kidnapped by #BokoHaram in 2014.
