Ham-fisted Zionist propaganda (on the Sabbath)

Zionist bloggers, come to Israel to meet fellow Jews and learn how to spread the word about…Humus?

What do Humus101, The Big Felafel, and Mommy’s Going Meshugganah have in common? They’re all blogs which concern Jewish issues such as being a tourist in Israel and how to deal with a Jewish in-law.

Creators of these blogs will arrive in Israel next week for the Jewish Bloggers convention, to be held in Jerusalem.

“The blogosphere is currently undergoing an unprecedented boom in the Jewish world. It’s virtually a new Jewish language,” said Danny Oberman, Executive VP of Israel Operations in Nefesh B’Nefesh who organized the event.

“New and original blogs on Jewish themes are popping up on the net daily. Each of those bears great influence on the current public discourse in the Jewish world.”

Let’s not forget that Nefesh B’Nefesh is the organisation bringing American Jews to settle in the occupied West Bank.

But the above article ends with the predictable kicker:

The conference will host officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Information who will attempt to recruit the bloggers for these goals.

In other words, who wants to shill for the glorious nation of Israel to sell the occupation?

  • Typical Ynetnews item produced for diaspora Jews probably from an English-language media release (which may explain why  I could not find it in Hebrew.) The news of the  Hummus (not Humus) 101 and Big Felafel bloggers arriving in Israel is about as big as Kevin Rudd arriving in Australia. They are Israelis who live there. Being an avid reader of the Hummus blog I hesitate a guess that they at least will give Netanyahu’s propagandists a short shrift.
No doubt some people will fall for the Nefesh B’Nefesh ploy but the paper picked the wrong ones. And if the bloggers want to feast on ham (rather than ham fist, and which some Jews do) they will have come down from Jerusalem into Ramleh.
