Israel continues its dedication to dissent:
A Sydney man is being treated in an Israeli hospital after being shot in the head during a protest in the West Bank.
Phil Reiss, from the southern Sydney suburb of Yowie Bay, was filming a protest in the West Bank town of Bilin yesterday when he was hit in the head with a rubber bullet apparently fired by an Israeli soldier.
About 300 people were taking part in a weekly demonstration, protesting against the building of Israel’s separation barrier, when the violence broke out.
More information on the incident here and here.
The truth of the event may emerge in time, though the Israelis are notorious for avoiding responsibility and lying about military tactics.
A number of Western peace activists have been killed in the last years while protesting Israel’s illegal occupation, security wall and dispossession of the Palestinian people. The town of Bil’in has been a focal point of recent activism.
