“Not In My Name” documentary on dissenting Judaism

Not In My Name is the new film by Brietta Hague which broadcast on Australia’s ABC TV Compass program in May 2024 (Australian viewers can watch here and international audiences here). For overseas readers, ABC is the Australian equivalent of the BBC.

The film is about Jewish dissent, my life and work, my journalism, family background, Jewish history, 7 October, mass slaughter in Gaza and the global surge in Jewish identity infused with support for Palestine.

It’s been a long journey to get this film out.

The trailers are below:

The great review was published in the Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne Age by Ben Pobije:

There’s been an avalanche of Australian and global interest in the film with high TV ratings and online engagement. ABC News published a long piece about the film and my work. The TV ratings were high and it was the most watched Compass show of the year. There was some predictable hate (hello Murdoch media) but the vast majority of the messages that I received were overwhelmingly positive, proving that there’s a massive public appetite for critical work on Palestine and Judaism.
