Who’s your mummy?

British men and women don’t seem too concerned about continuing “Western values“:

Britain’s low birthrate is being driven by a generation of potential parents who would rather get rich and have fun than start a family, according to a Guardian/ICM poll published today.

It also shows that while people still think it is best to have children while young, they are being forced to delay family life by career pressures and the growing difficulty of finding a partner.

The result of this lowering birth-rate will be a radical shift in British demographics. Similar results would be found in most Western countries. The only “problem” with such directions is a welcome rebalancing away from Western-centric and exceptionalist thinking. If you’re little cultural warrior, Mark Steyn, however, the “West” is facing extinction. Let him sweat.
