Perhaps Anna Politkovskaya was designated as an enemy of Russia because she knew too many secrets.She was friendly with pro Russian Chechens,bureaucrats and whistle blowers confided in her as did Russian army sources.
As a true investigative journalist she valued the currency of speaking truth to power.Independent radicals have a precarious life in any society.
She challenged the hegemony of the State simply by being a person of honesty and integrity.Her life was dedicated to the politics of the truth.That is why Saints are martyred.
